“Xnha’ We” is a full-evening solo-show in six parts that explores the complex relationship between a mother and a son. Through movement, physical theater, costumes, and projections, the performer takes an in depth personal journey that narrates, through an abstract theatrical language, the past, the present, and the future of their relationship.
“Xnha’ We” means Mamma in the Zapotec dialect.
This is the first solo show of Carlos A. Cruz Velazquez. He usually performs and choreographs for his company colectivodoszeta. Carlos has performed consistently in NYC since 2006 at the Joyce SoHo, Dance Theater Workshop, New York Theater Workshop, New York International Fringe Festival 2010 and 2016, LaTea Theater, among other venues. He is currently choreographing a play directed by Elena Araoz at Princeton University's Maria Irene Fornes Institute Symposium .
